Because my dreams are bursting at the seams...

I just returned from one of the most encouraging weekends so far. I got to spend time with friends whom I love very much and talk about life and the crazy things that are happening in our lives...More to come...Right now I have to do homework :).

Word of the Week (Or whenever I get around to it)

This is for those of you who are learning or know Spanish and want some fun facts/new words to help you learn.

June 16th:
Que Onda?: What's up...

Me Cae bien: Means, I like him or her...literally it would be he/ she falls well with me...but it is just like saying they are cool, I like them.

April 6th:
Chin: this is the equivalent of saying "Oh, shoot" in English, like I dropped something on the floor...chin! or chin! I forgot my cell phone in the car. Pronounced Cheen.

March 5th:
Aguas: Agua normally means water. But here in Mexico (and maybe other places too) they use aguas to tell someone to be careful. Apparently it comes from the old days when they used to throw the bath or wash water out the window. People would say "aguas" to warn people that the water was coming. Now a days it is just another way of saying "be careful" or "watch out!"Cool huh?

February 4th:
Vato: Dude. Yep Mexicans say dude too.
Nombre: I'm still figuring this one out, but it is a figure of speech, like saying "No man." Careful though, they say it to women too...it can get a little confusing.

December 26th:
Wacala or Guácala (this version is quechua: a mayan dialect): Yucky.
Just as good as yucky if not better to describe your feelings when you see something disgusting.

October 30th:
Tacones: High heals.
Chorro: A whole ton...Like, I have a ton of work...Tengo un chorro de trabajo.
The last one is exclusive to Mexico...so if you use it anywhere else people won't understand :)...still interesting I think.

October 14:
Ahorita: Directly translated means "Right now," however frequently the people in Mexico will use it to say "in a minute." Confusing huh? Yeah.

Example: If you ask someone if they want a cup of coffee and they say "ahorita" they are saying, "I'll get some in a minute."

On the Contrary: So if you want to say "right now" as in right now, right now...then you want to say "ya." Which directly translated means "already," but who's directly translating?

A ver: Directly translated "to see." Mexican's use this to say, "let me see," as in "I want to see" or "let me see..." as in "I'm thinking."
